The Origin of Relish Ink

The origin of Relish Ink started on May 8th, 1988. This was the day that Jonathan Turner, the artist, was born. Relish Ink is now a skateboard and clothing company, but its real origin bloomed from his lifestyle. A lifestyle that developed over the 23 years Turner was alive.

This kid figured out something at a very young age, that most people never figure out. He discovered what life is all about. He found what motivated him in all aspects of life. Turner realized that this life is what you make it, there is opportunity out there for everyone, and that motivation can change everything.

You see, life is about love. It sounds corny, but it’s about finding that thing that drives you. Finding that one thing that truly motivates you. Jonathan Turner put every ounce of effort into everything he did. I remember the day when he called me, and told me he was going to art school at the University of Miami. This is when he figured out what he wanted to do in life, and I knew it was going to be epic. He had been drawing since I can remember, but the day Turner committed to task, his life changed. He was going to be an artist.

Motivation had been distilled in his brain the day he was born, and it was ruthless. A never quit mentality always lead to success in one way or another. The truth is, the brand name Relish Ink and Jonathan Turner are one; a synonym. Using his artwork to fuel the company, he took Relish Ink from and idea, to a legit company.

Not only did he succeed at being a real artist, he defined originality. Jonathan never went with the crowd. He set his own bar, and his own standards.  His style, his music, and the way he loved his family and  friends were all based on his own accord.

Anyone that met him can testify that the kid changed lives. Regardless of the severity in any situation, Jonathan taught something positive to anyone he encountered.  Even when he entered a room, it was blatant he was different. Different in a positive way however. His outlook on life simply shined through his pours.

I write this to ask you to try and live life with the same demeanor. Believe me when I tell you that he would want us to do such. If his path crossed yours in any way, I ask you to remember what he taught you. I ask you to utilize his Lifestyle in changing your own in a positive manor. Do not dwell. Do not conform. Stay True to yourself, and live everyday like it’s your last. And by all means…Relish the moment.

Rest in peace kid. We Love you brother.
